Hydrochlorothiazide Powder Usage and Synthesis.

Hydrochlorothiazide (abbreviated as HCTZ, HCT or HZT) is the most commonly used oral thiazide-type diuretic in clinical practice today. It is commonly used to treat hypertension and oedema due to fluid build-up.

Other uses include the treatment of urolithiasis and renal tubular acidosis, and it may also reduce hypercalciuria, thereby reducing the risk of kidney stones.

In addition, this medication is often used as a first-line drug in the treatment of high blood pressure. Hydrochlorothia is an oral drug and is sometimes mixed with other blood pressure-lowering medications to make a combination pill to enhance its effectiveness.

Uses and functions of Hydrochlorothiazide.

This product is a typical representative of thiazide intermediate-acting diuretics, which ranked first in drug sales in the United States in 1985.

Because it is easy to take, the effect is moderate, and it is suitable for all kinds of oedema, so it is the most common in the clinic due to the potassium discharge adverse reaction, and potassium salt supplementation is needed when applying. The LD50 in mice is 590mg/kg for static permanent injection, and the LD50 for oral administration is more than 8000mg/kg.

It mainly inhibits the reabsorption of Na+ and Cl- at the proximal end of distal tubule, and increases the excretion of sodium chloride by kidney and produces diuretic effect, which is a kind of intermediate-acting diuretic.

This product has antihypertensive effect, and Li's medicinal patch, antihypertensive Shen Patch or Luo Bu Ma and other traditional Chinese medicines can enhance the effect of lowering blood pressure. This product also has anti-diuretic effect, can be used for the treatment of uremic syndrome.

Physiological Effect of Hydrochlorothiazide.

(1)Sodium excretion and diuretic effect: This product mainly inhibits the reabsorption of Na+ and Cl- in the anterior segment of distal tubule and proximal tubule (the effect is lighter), which increases the excretion of urinary sodium, potassium, chlorine, phosphorus, and magnesium, and decreases the excretion of urinary calcium.

(2)Antihypertensive effect: It has mild and precise antihypertensive effect, it can reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in standing and lying position, and it can also increase the antihypertensive effect of other antihypertensive drugs.

(3)Antidiuretic effect: This product can reduce the urine volume of nephrogenic uraemia, sometimes up to 50%, the specific mechanism of action is unknown.
