    Product Overview:

Citral can be separated from essential oils; it can also be obtained from industrial geraniol (and nerol) by reduced-pressure gas-phase dehydrogenation with a copper catalyst; it can also be synthesised from dehydro-linalool in the presence of a vanadium catalyst. Citral can be used in the manufacture of citrus flavour food spices, because of easy oxidation and polymerisation and discolouration, only used in neutral media; also used in the synthesis of isohumol, hydroxycitronellal and violet ketone, violet ketone is the raw material for vitamin A synthesis. Citral is a terpenoid.

    Citral Powder Usage and Synthesis.

Citral can be separated from essential oils; it can also be obtained from industrial geraniol (and nerol) by reduced-pressure gas-phase dehydrogenation with a copper catalyst; it can also be synthesised from dehydro-linalool in the presence of a vanadium catalyst. Citral is a terpenoid.

    Citral powder

    Uses and functions of Citral.

Versatile and used in all aspects where lemon aroma is required. It is an important fragrance for lemon type, anti-odour wood type flavour, artificial preparation of lemon oil, tangy lemon oil and orange leaf oil.

It is the raw material for the synthesis of violet ketones and methyl violet ketones. Can also be used to mask the bad smell of industrial production.

Can also be used for ginger, lemon, white lemon, sweet orange, grapefruit, apple, cherry, grape, strawberry and spice and other edible flavours. Wine flavouring can also be used.

Used in margarine, citrus oil modulation, as well as other citrus spices, fruit flavours, cherries, coffee, plums and other food flavours, but also widely used in tableware detergents, soaps, floral water flavouring agent.

Citral is the raw material for the synthesis of violet ketone and methyl violet ketone, dihydrodammarone, etc.; as an organic raw material, it can be reduced to citronellol, nerol and geraniol; it can also be converted into citronitrile. Pharmaceutical industry for the manufacture of vitamins A and E, etc., is also the raw material of chlorophyll.

    Citral

    Characteristic of Citral.

Colourless or slightly yellow liquid with a strong lemon aroma. No spinning properties. Boiling point 228℃, flash point 92℃. There are two isomers, cis and trans. Treated with sodium bisulfite, the solubility of cis-type is very small, while the trans-type is very large, so the two can be separated.

Cis citral: relative density (d200.8898, refractive index (nD20) 1.4891, boiling point 118 ~ 119 ℃ (2666Pa). Trans citral: relative density 0.8888, refractive index (nD20) 1.4891, boiling point 117 ~ 118 ℃ (2666Pa). Soluble in non-volatile oil, volatile oil, propylene glycol and ethanol, insoluble in glycerol and water.

Unstable in alkaline and strong acid. Natural products exist in lemongrass oil (70% ~ 80%), celandine oil (about 70%), lemon oil, white lemon oil, citrus leaf oil, etc.

    Citral Raw

Product method of Bulk Citral Powder.

Naturally occurring in Lemongrass Oil, Lemon Oil, White Lemon Oil, Mandarin Oil, Celandine Oil, Verbena Oil.

The content of 70-80% in the natural essential oil of lemongrass oil, freesia oil, can be obtained from the essential oil by temperature distillation. If you need to make a fine product, you can use sodium bisulfite method for purification treatment, and then distilled under reduced pressure.

The industrial synthesis of citral is based on the synthesis of methylheptenone, from which 3,7-dimethylocten-6-yn-1-ol-3 (dehydrolinalool) is made from methylheptenone and acetylene.

The dehydrolinalool was then obtained by direct rearrangement of the dehydrolinalool in an inert solvent at 140-150°C in the presence of a polymerised silica sulfone catalyst.

Alternatively, citral can be produced from industrial geraniol (and nerol) by reduced-pressure gas-phase dehydrogenation over a copper catalyst.
