Sodium Tripolyphosphate Powder Usage and Synthesis.
Sodium tripolyphosphate is a widely used additive in detergent, textile, water softening, boiler descaling, drilling, metal beneficiation and other fields. It has good properties of emulsification, synergism, water softening and pH adjustment. At present, some new methods of producing sodium tripolyphosphate have been studied. The performance characteristics of sodium tripolyphosphate include white granular or powder, density 0.35-0.90g/cm3, melting point 622℃, soluble in water, aqueous solution is alkaline.
Uses of Sodium Tripolyphosphate.
Sodium tripolyphosphate is used in detergents, as an auxiliary, soap synergist and prevent bar soap crystallization and frosting, industrial water softener, tanning pre-tanning agent, dyeing auxiliaries, oil well digging mud control agent, oil stain prevention agent for paper making, effective dispersing agent for the treatment of suspensions in paints, kaolin, magnesium oxide, calcium carbonate and so on. Preparation of Bulk Sodium Tripolyphosphate Powder.
Sodium tripolyphosphate is traditionally prepared by neutralizing hot phosphoric acid with a soda ash suspension with a mass fraction of H3PO4 of 75% to produce a neutralized slurry with Na/P of 5:3, which is held at 70°C to 90°C; after which the obtained slurry is sprayed into a polymerization furnace to dehydrate at high temperature and condense into sodium tripolyphosphate at about 400°C.
Product Methods of Sodium Tripolyphosphate.
Two-step method of hot phosphoric acid: neutralize hot phosphoric acid with soda ash to generate disodium hydrogen phosphate and sodium dihydrogen phosphate, then mix the two sodium salts in a certain proportion and polymerize them, and then obtain sodium tripolyphosphate product after drying and other processes.
One-step method of wet phosphoric acid: wet phosphoric acid is directly reacted with soda ash, and the generated sodium phosphate salt is directly polymerized to generate sodium tripolyphosphate by controlling the reaction conditions. This method has relatively low production cost, but has high quality requirements for the raw material wet phosphoric acid, and the wet phosphoric acid needs to be pre-treated by impurity removal.
