Butylated hydroxyanisole Raw Materials powder Butylated hydroxyanisole
Product Overview:
Butylated hydroxyanisole is an antioxidant, a mixture of two isomers, 2-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole and 3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole, with an E code of E320. It is synthesized by reacting p-hydroxyanisole with tert-butyl alcohol, or 2-tert-butylhydroquinone with dimethyl sulfate. The main use of BHA is as an antioxidant and preservative in food, food packaging, cosmetics and petroleum products.

Butylated hydroxyanisole Raw Materials powder Butylated hydroxyanisole Details
Butylated hydroxyanisole powder Usage and Synthesis.
Butylated hydroxyanisole combined with sodium tripolyphosphate and ascorbic acid can delay the spoilage of frozen pork chops. Butylated hydroxyanisole can slightly extend the shelf life of spray-dried whole milk powder and improve the shelf life of cheese.
Butylated hydroxyanisole can stabilize the color of peppers and chili powder and prevent oxidation of foods such as walnuts and peanuts. Adding butylated hydroxyanisole to baking oil and salt can maintain the aroma of baked goods and salty peanuts. Extend the shelf life of baked goods. Butylated hydroxyanisole can be mixed with other fat-soluble antioxidants for better results.
For example, butylated hydroxyanisole and butylated hydroxytoluene can be used together to protect carp, chicken, pork chops and frozen smoked pork slices. Butylated hydroxyanisole or a mixture of butylated hydroxytoluene, propyl gallate and citric acid is added to butter used to make candies to inhibit the oxidation of candies.
Uses of Butylated hydroxyanisole powder.
As a fat-soluble antioxidant, butylated hydroxyanisole is suitable for oily foods and fat-rich foods. Due to its good thermal stability, it can be used under frying or baking conditions. In addition, butylated hydroxyanisole has a strong antioxidant effect on animal fats, but a poor antioxidant effect on unsaturated vegetable fats.
Butylated hydroxyanisole can be used as a feed antioxidant and also has antibacterial effects. BHA dosage of 250mg/kg can inhibit the production of aflatoxin, and 200mg/kg BHA can completely inhibit the growth of spores such as toxin enzymes and Aspergillus niger in food and feed.

Product Method of Bulk Butylated hydroxyanisole powder.
Hydroquinone reacts with tert-butyl alcohol in the presence of phosphoric acid to generate 2-tert-butyl hydroquinone and 3-tert-butyl hydroquinone, which are then reacted with dimethyl sulfate in the presence of zinc powder. Another method is to use phosphoric acid or sulfuric acid as a catalyst to react p-hydroxyanisole with tert-butyl alcohol at 80°C, and the reaction product is washed with water, washed with 10% sodium hydroxide solution, and then distilled under reduced pressure and recrystallized to obtain the finished product.
