Product Overview:
Sorbitol, also known as sorbitol, hexane hexaol, and D-sorbitol, is a non-volatile polyol with stable chemical properties. It is not easily oxidized by air and is easily soluble in water, hot ethanol, methanol, isopropanol, butanol, cyclohexanol, phenol, acetone, acetic acid, and dimethylformamide. It is widely distributed in the fruits of plants in nature, is not easily fermented by various microorganisms, has good heat resistance, and does not decompose at high temperatures (200°C). It was originally separated from wild strawberries by Boussingault et al. in France. The pH value of the saturated aqueous solution is 6-7. It is an isomer with mannitol, tyrosinol, and galactitol. It has a refreshing sweet taste, with a sweetness of 65% of sucrose and a very low calorific value.

Sorbitol powder Usage and Synthesis.
Sorbitol has good hygroscopicity and is widely used in the food, daily chemical, pharmaceutical and other industries. It can prevent food from drying and aging, extend the shelf life of products, and effectively prevent the crystallization of sugar and salt in food. It can maintain the intensity balance of sweetness, sourness and bitterness and increase the flavor of food. It can be obtained by heating and pressurizing glucose in the presence of a nickel catalyst.
Uses and functions of Sorbitol.
1. Sorbitol can be used to wash spheroplasts and minimize the internal osmotic flow in agarose gel in isoelectric focusing, and can be used to induce osmotic stress.
2. It can be used for biochemical research, acid-base titration of boric acid, preparation of sorbose and vitamin C; used as a biochemical reagent, thickener and hardener, and can also be used to prepare plasticizers and antifreeze agents in alkyd resins.
3. Pharmaceutical grade sorbitol is used to prepare injections, large infusions and oral granules, etc., and food grade is used for chewing gum, sugar-free candies, etc.
4. It is used as a food moisturizer, flavoring agent, antioxidant, cosmetic raw material, and in the production of toothpaste, tobacco, leather and ink, etc., it is used to replace glycerin as a moisture control agent, adhesive raw material, and diuretic and choleretic drugs.
5. It can also be used as a sweetener; humectant (mainly for patients with diabetes, liver disease, cholecystitis, etc.); chelating agent; texture improver (for example, it can make the cake texture delicate and prevent starch aging); synthetic raw material for vitamin C; it can mask the bitter taste of saccharin sodium in beverages and make the taste of sweets thick; used as a diluent for chocolate, candy, ice cream, and food coloring; therapeutic effect jam; cake pre-made powder; paste, etc.

Product Method of Bulk Sorbitol.
53% glucose aqueous solution and 0.1% (to glucose) nickel catalyst are added to the autoclave, and after replacing the air, hydrogenation is carried out at about 3.5MPa, 150℃ and Ph value 8.2-8.4, and the final residual sugar is controlled below 0.5%. After precipitation for 5 minutes, the sorbitol liquid is refined with ion exchange resin to obtain the product. The above process is simple, and qualified products can be obtained without separation, and there is no "three wastes" pollution, but for starch, the yield is only 50%, so the cost is relatively high. If a new process of direct hydrogenation of starch saccharification liquid is adopted, the yield can reach 85%.
