Use of Cetilistat.
Neolistat is a novel pancreatic lipase inhibitor for the treatment of obesity in diabetic and non-diabetic patients. Neolistat is a long-acting and potent inhibitor of specific gastrointestinal lipase. It acts as a therapeutic agent by forming covalent bonds with the active serine sites of gastric and pancreatic lipase in the stomach and small intestine to inactivate enzymes that are unable to hydrolyze food fats, mainly triglycerides, into absorbable free fatty acids and monacylglycerol. Undigested triglycerides cannot be absorbed by the body, thereby reducing calorie intake and controlling weight.
