Chlorobenzyl ether is a preservative that is widely used in cosmetics and is compatible with most preservatives (including potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, methylisothiazolinone). They are white crystals and usually have a weak characteristic odor. Melting point 77.0-80.5℃. Slightly soluble in water (about 0.5%). 95% ethanol has a solubility of 5%. Soluble in ethers.
