Drospirenone Raw Materials Drospirenone Powder Details
Drospirenone Powder Usage and Synthesis.
Drospirenone, a new synthetic progestin designed to mimic the effects of progesterone, is the progestin with pharmacological properties closest to those of natural progesterone, combining the unique advantages of anti-salt corticosteroid and anti-androgenic activity.
It appears as a form of fertility control hormone. By mimicking progesterone, it increases hormone levels and reduces the risk of pregnancy. It was therefore marketed as an effective contraceptive.
Unfortunately, since its introduction to the market, Drospirenone has shown negative effects on female estrogen. The mixing of these two hormones can adversely affect the health of some people.
Uses of Drospirenone.
Drospirenone, also known as dihydrospirenone, chemically known as 6β,7β,15β,16β-di-methylene-3-oxo-17α-pregn-4-ene-17,21-carboxylic lactone, is a natural progesterone activity of lactone progestins developed by the German company Schering (ScheringAG).
Clinically, it is usually combined with ethinylestradiol to form a combination estrogen-progestogen preparation as a commonly used oral contraceptive for women, also known by the trade name Yasmin.
In addition to being a highly effective contraceptive, Yasmin also has clinical applications such as anti-salt corticosteroid activity, prevention of weight gain caused by fluid retention, and improvement of skin and hair.
Side Effects of Drospirenone.
When drospirenone reacts with estrogen, it can cause the blood in the body to thicken. It may seem like a minor problem, but blood clotting can lead to the formation of blood clots.
These clots that form in the blood vessels can impede the flow of blood and even block the heart, brain, lungs and other vital organs directly with the flow of blood.
Clots interfere with the heart receiving blood and can cause a heart attack. If it interferes with blood flow to the brain, it causes a stroke.
The possibility of side effects exists for any woman taking drospirenone, but people who are obese, diabetic, smokers, depressed, or have high blood pressure are more likely to develop blood clots from taking drospirenone-containing birth control pills.
