Pharmaceutical intermediate Artichoke Extract Powder
Product Overview:
The artichoke is an edible plant that has been used as a court dish for dignitaries since Roman and Greek times. Today, artichokes are mainly grown in Italy, Spain, France, Argentina, and the United States. The edible part is the inner bracts and receptacle, and the inedible industrial by-products, including the outer bracts and stems and leaves, account for about 80% of the fresh weight of the whole plant. However, studies on the functional active components of artichoke have found that the inedible parts, especially the leaves, contain a considerable amount of functional substances.

Pharmaceutical intermediate Artichoke Extract Powder Details
Artichoke Extract Powder Usage and Synthesis.
Artichoke, also known as artichoke, or artichoke, because its flower buds are shaped like the bulb of a lily, so it is also known as the French lily, the Dutch lily, for the Asteraceae family, the genus artichoke, perennial herb. Native to the Mediterranean coast of Northern Europe, it grows in sunny, warm and not too humid seaside areas.
At present, the planting area in Europe and the United States is large, especially in Italy, France, the Netherlands. In the 19th century, it was imported from France to Shanghai, Beijing and other places in China, but because of the limitations of climate, soil and technology, it did not form commercial production.
Uses of Artichoke Extract.
Artichoke extract is the aqueous or alcoholic extract of the perennial herb artichoke, the main active ingredients include polyphenols, flavonoids, terpenoids and so on. The main active ingredients include polyphenols, flavonoids, terpenoids, etc. It has pharmacological activities such as antioxidant, liver protection, cholesterol-lowering, antimicrobial and gastrointestinal improvement. Artichoke extracts can be used as food additives, feed additives, antioxidants and even pharmaceuticals.
Chemical Components of Artichoke Extract.
1. Phenolic compounds: artichoke acid, chlorogenic acid, 1-O-caffeoylquinic acid, 3-O-caffeoylquinic acid, 4-O-caffeoylquinic acid, 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid, 1,3-dioxocaffeoylquinic acid, 3,4-dioxocaffeoylquinic acid, 3,5-dioxocaffeoylquinic acid, 1,5-dioxocaffeoylquinic acid, 4,5-dioxocaffeoyl Quinic acid; 2-methoxy-4-(2,3-dihydroxy-propionyl)-phenyl-1-O-(6'-O-galloyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside and so on.
2. Flavonoids: naringenin rutinoside, naringenin glucoside, apigenin-7-O-rutinoside, apigenin-7-O-glucoside, lignan-7-O-rutinoside, lignan-7-O-glucoside, were isolated from artichoke flower buds and leaves.3
. Terpenoids: vegetable thistle bitters, aguerinB, grosheimin, cynaracolosideA-C, cynarininB, dehydro-cynaropicrin, aguerinA, cynartriol, etc. were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of artichoke leaves.
4. Anthocyanin compounds: containing cornflowerin-3,5-dioxo-glucoside, cornflowerin-3-O-glucoside, cornflowerin-3,5-malonylglucoside.
5. Other components: also contains inulin, plant sterols, volatile oils, minerals, amino acids, soluble sugar, etc.
Pharmacological Effect of Artichoke Extract.
1.Antioxidant effectsArtichoke leaf extract possesses antioxidant and protects mouse liver from oxidative stress of hydrogen peroxide as well as reduces low density lipoprotein (LDL).
The antioxidant capacity of each polyphenolic compound isolated from artichoke extracts was evaluated using their scavenging effects on DPPH free radicals. It was found that the antioxidant capacity of the polyphenolic compounds was mainly determined by the number of hydroxyl groups on the fenugreek ring, and the higher the number of hydroxyl groups, the higher the antioxidant capacity.
In addition, the second hydroxyl group located in the neighbouring and opposite positions can also increase its antioxidant capacity.
2.Liver protectionArtichoke root can be used as a medicine, which has the effect of sterilisation, detoxification, stimulation of bile secretion, etc., and is very effective in treating liver damage caused by alcohol.
3.Anti-microbial activityArtichoke extract chlorogenic acid, artichoke acid, mignonin-7-rutinoside and artichoke glycoside have relatively high anti-microbial activity, and the anti-fungal activity is stronger than the anti-bacterial activity.
Some studies have reported that artichoke leaf extracts have significant resistance to seven species of bacteria, four of which are yeasts.
4. Cholesterol-lowering Artichoke extract is able to regulate lipid metabolism in humans by lowering cholesterol and endogenous triglycerides in the body. Bile is the main way to eliminate cholesterol. Artichoke extract is able to reduce cholesterol levels in human liver and serum by promoting the secretion of bile.
Meanwhile, there are also many studies showing that artichoke extract can act directly on endogenous cholesterol synthesis.
5.Treatment of dyspepsiaArtichoke extract can be used as a treatment for digestive disorders, accompanied by insufficient bile secretion and fat absorption caused by dyspepsia.
