Guanosine is a biologically active substance found in a wide variety of tissues. It can catalyze the production of GTP by guanylate cyclase and be broken down by phosphodiesterase.
Cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) is an important form of guanosine, and its content is about 1/10 to 1/100 of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP).
cGMP plays a variety of physiological roles in the human body, such as regulating smooth muscle contraction, influencing cardiovascular function, and participating in signaling. In addition, guanosine is the main raw material for the manufacture of drugs such as acyclic guanosine, trioxazole nucleoside, and guanosine sodium triphosphate.
