Pregabalin is used to treat neuralgia after herpes zoster and fibromyalgia, which is used to improve neuralgia. Pregabalin has a high affinity with the corresponding sites in the central system. The mechanism of action of pregabalin is still unclear.
Studies have shown that pregabalin may reduce the calcium-dependent release of some neurotransmitters by regulating the function of calcium channels, and play an analgesic effect. It is a structural derivative of the inhibitory neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid, but it does not directly bind to γ-aminobutyric acid receptors, nor does it bind to benzodiazepine receptors.
