lorcaserin Powder Usage and Synthesis.
Lorcaserin is a new type of drug for the treatment of obesity, belonging to the oral effective selective 5-hydroxytryptamine 2C receptor agonist, lorcaserin hydrochloride was successfully developed by the American company Arena, and was approved by the U.S. FDA for marketing on 27th June 2012, and is used as an adjunctive treatment for overweight adults with obesity or at least 1 weight-related complication on the basis of a low-calorie diet and exercise. The drug was approved by the FDA on 27 June 2012 for use as an adjunctive therapy to low-calorie diet and exercise in overweight adults with obesity or at least 1 weight-related complication. Clinical studies have shown that the drug is effective in reducing body weight and improving obesity-related metabolic indicators in obese and overweight patients and is well tolerated. With a 100-fold higher affinity for 5-HT2c than 5-HT2B (risk of heart valve disease) and a better safety profile, lorcaserin was the first weight-loss drug approved by the FDA after 1999. Mean weight loss ranged from 3 per cent to 3.7 per cent with one year of clorcaserin treatment.
Security of lorcaserin.
Cloracaserin is well tolerated and safe. The most common adverse reactions to cloracaserin when used in non-diabetic patients are headache dizziness fatigue nausea dry mouth and constipation. It is used in diabetic patients and common adverse reactions include hypoglycaemia headache back pain cough and fatigue. Studies have found similar rates of serious adverse reactions with lorcaserin and placebo, and lorcaserin did not increase the incidence of heart valve disease.
The incidence of depression and depressed mood after treatment with lorcaserin was low, with studies showing that lorcaserin 10mgbid, 10mgqd and placebo resulted in 1.9%, 1.1% and 1.8% depression, 0.6%, 0.9%, 0.9% and 0.9% depressed mood and 0.9%, 0.9%, 0.6%, 0.7% suicidal thoughts, respectively. This product is a pregnancy drug class X, contraindicated in pregnant women; it is not known whether this product is secreted through breast milk, and the use of this drug in breastfeeding women needs to be weighed against the advantages and disadvantages of using this drug; this product is not recommended for use in children.
Pharmacological Effects of lorcaserin.
Cloxacillin is a selective 5-hydroxytryptamine agonist at the 5-hydroxytryptamine 2C (5-HT2C) receptor, which is distributed almost exclusively within the brain. Activation of this receptor activates hunger and satiety pathways, including the pathway that induces akinesinogen, which reduces appetite.
Because of the mechanism of action of lorcaserin and the theoretical possibility of a 5-hydroxytryptamine syndrome, extra caution should be exercised when lorcaserin is used in combination with drugs that may affect the 5-hydroxytryptaminergic neurotransmitter system, including treprostinil monoamine oxidase inhibitors selective 5-hydroxytryptamine reuptake inhibitors selective 5-hydroxytryptamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors tricyclic antidepressants bupropion dextromethorphan lithium tramadol and St John's wort, etc. In addition, caution is required when combining this product with substrates of CYP2D6 as it may increase exposure to this class of drugs.
