Coccidium-resistant raw material Clopidol Powder Details
Clopidol Powder Usage and Synthesis.
Clopidol is a veterinary additive widely used to prevent coccidial infections in chickens.Clopidol is banned for use in exported poultry, and the maximum residue level (MRL) for Clopidol in chicken meat is set at 0.01 mg/kg in the People's Republic of China (P.R. China).Clopidol inhibits electron transport from oocysts isolated from unspore-forming electron transport in mitochondria.
Uses of Clopidol.
It has good effect on 9 types of Eimeria in chickens, especially the strongest effect on Eimeria tenderis. Its peak activity is the ascospore stage (i.e., the first day of infection), so it can be given before or at the same time as the infection, as a preventive drug or early treatment is more appropriate.
It has been proved that chlorohydroxypyridine can inhibit the immunity of chickens to coccidia, and stopping the drug too early often leads to outbreaks of coccidiosis. At present, it is believed that the coccidia are easy to produce drug resistance to this product. This product also has a certain effect on the prevention and control of rabbit coccidia.
Pharmacological Effect of Clopidol.
Chlorohydroxypyridine is a pyridine compound with a wide range of anticoccidial effects. It can be used in avian and rabbit coccidiosis.
The peak effect of chlorohydroxypyridine on coccidia mainly lies in the sporulation stage, which can stop the development of ascospores in the epithelial cells for up to 60 days. Recently, it has also been found to have an inhibitory effect on the 2nd generation of cleavage reproduction, gametogenesis and spore formation. Since chlorohydroxypyridine is only inhibitory to coccidia, the ascospores can develop again after stopping the drug.
Chlorohydroxypyridine significantly reduces host immunity to coccidia.
Note of Clopidol.
(1)Because this product only has the effect of inhibiting the development of coccidia, coupled with the obvious inhibitory effect on immunity, broilers must be applied continuously rather than discontinued hastily.
(2)Due to the long-term widespread application, most of the coccidia in China have been obviously resistant to chlorohydroxypyridine, due to the structure of this product is similar to quinoline anti-coccidiosis drugs, there may be cross-resistance. Therefore, once the resistance is found in chicken farms, in addition to stopping the application, and can not be changed to use quinoline anticoccidials, such as butoxyquinate (Buquinolate), decoquinate (Decoquinate) and benzyloxyquinomethyl ester (Nequinate).
(3) Prohibited for laying hens.
(4) Rest period, 5 days for broilers and turkeys.
