Tetramisole (2 mg/kg, i.v.) in cats produced transient membrane contractions after a 20-second delay, accompanied by a transient drop in blood pressure followed by a sustained rise lasting up to 20 minutes.

Tetramisole (2 mg/kg) produced a greater contractile response than in cats not treated with reserpine.

Tetramisole (5-10 mg/kg, i.v.) in rabbits caused a transient sharp drop in blood pressure, partially antagonistic to atropine.

After 3 weeks of Tetramisole (15 mg/kg) treatment, the number of faecal nematode eggs in sheep began to increase and remained elevated until 12 weeks.

Tetramisole is orally non-toxic and was tested as an effective low-dose injectable drug against all adult and juvenile gastrointestinal and lung nematodes in 14 different hosts.

Tetramisole (10 μg/mL) acts on helminthic viruses and causes sustained contraction of isolated muscles.

Tetramisole acting on Ascaris lumbricoides muscle lowered its resting potential from 34 mV to 10 mV and elicited a twitch response in muscles previously stimulated with high KTetramisole (0.1 mM) acting on cats, either directly or indirectly, augmenting the twitch response of the muscle.

Tetramisole (0.1 mM) acted on chickens to enhance the preparation of the twitch response and reverse the inhibitory effect of Tubocurarine, producing reversible neuromuscular blockade and muscle contracture.
