The postganglionic sympathetic fibres that innervate the seminal vesicles, vas deferens, prostate, urethral bulb muscles and bladder neck allow these organs to contract in concert to achieve ejaculation.

Dapoxetine modulates this ejaculatory reflex in rats, thereby prolonging the latency of the pubic motor neuron reflex discharge (PMRD) and reducing the duration of the PMRD.
