The urethrin A precursor compound (8.0 g) and AlCl3 (8.83 g) were reflow reacted overnight in chlorobenol (60 ml) solution. After the reaction, the mixture was added to ice water, and precipitation was obviously observed. The water layer was extracted with ethyl acetate, and the resulting organic layer was concentrated under vacuum. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (10% ethyl acetate/hexane) to obtain the target product.
