Cephradine Powder Usage and Synthesis.

Cephradine Powder has the advantage of a low incidence of adverse reactions and is the drug of choice for the treatment of inflammation.Veterinary Medicine Cephradine is used for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia and other respiratory tract infections caused by sensitive organisms, infections of genitourinary tract and infections of the soft tissues of the skin. 

Cephradine Raw Materials White or off-white crystalline powder, slightly odourless. Slightly soluble in water, almost insoluble in ethanol, chloroform, ether. It is characterised as β-lactamase-resistant and has rapid and reliable bactericidal effect on drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and a variety of other broad-spectrum antibiotic-resistant bacilli.

Uses and functions of Cephradine Powder.

Cephradine Powder has killing effect on most gram-positive and negative bacteria, it has good antibacterial effect on penicillinase-free and penicillinase-producing Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Streptococcus grasshopperus, and it has slightly poorer activity against Escherichia coli, Proteus spp. and Klebsiella spp. It has a certain effect on Neisseria gonorrhoeae, it also has activity against enzyme-producing gonococcus. 

Cephradine Powder is also active against enzyme-producing gonococci and less active against Haemophilus influenzae. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, resistant Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas fragilis and Mycoplasma and Chlamydia are resistant to it, while the remaining anaerobes are sensitive to it.

Because of its strong antibacterial power, good clinical efficacy and high degree of safety for various infections, as well as a high degree of tolerance to β-lactamase and good pharmacokinetic properties, it is widely used in acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia and other respiratory infections caused by cephalosporin-sensitive organisms, urogenital infections, and soft-tissue infections of the skin.

Pharmacological Effects of Cephradine Powder.

Cefradine is a first-generation cephalosporin whose antibacterial action is characterised by:

• (1) the antibacterial effect on gram-positive bacteria, including penicillin-sensitive and resistant Staphylococcus aureus (except methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is stronger than the second and third generation of cephalosporins; the role of gram-negative bacteria is not as good as that of second-generation cephalosporins, and even worse than that of third-generation cephalosporins.
• (2)It is unstable to the β-lactamase produced by gram-negative bacilli, but the stability of β-lactamase produced by Staphylococcus aureus is better than that of the second and third generation cephalosporins.

Production method of Cephradine Powder.

The drug inhibits cell wall synthesis of dividing bacterial cells by binding to one or more penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) of the bacterial cells to achieve bactericidal effect.

One of the mechanisms of inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis is to make bacteria synthesise defective cell walls with unstable permeability; the second mechanism may be to inhibit the inhibitor of cell wall hydrolase required for cell division, which in turn leads to the disintegration of bacterial cell walls.
