The peak action of chlorproguanidine hydrochloride on coccidia is mainly in the 1st generation of schizonts (i.e., day 2 of the life cycle of coccidia). It prevents the formation of schizonts from schizonts. It has also been shown to inhibit the 2nd generation of schizonts and even the development of oocysts.

Sulfaguanidine is obtained by cyclisation with acetylacetone as raw material. Sulfaguanidine, acetylacetone, sodium bisulfite, sodium hydroxide and water were put into the reaction kettle and heated to reflux for about 6h.

When crystallisation appears in the reaction solution, add acetylacetone and continue refluxing for 20 h. After recovering acetylacetone, add appropriate amount of boiling water, filter while hot, wash the filter cake with hot water, recrystallise and dry to obtain sulfadiazine dimethylpyrimidine.
